WHY IRMO HOMES CALL US
Irmo developed along the I-26 corridor starting in the 1970s and 1980s, and many of its most popular neighborhoods reflect that era. That means a lot of homes with original or once-replaced plumbing and HVAC systems that are showing their age.
Drain problems in established neighborhoods. Chestnut Hill Plantation has over 600 homes, many built in the 1980s and 1990s. Mature trees throughout these subdivisions are beautiful — but their root systems don’t respect sewer lines. Tree root intrusion is one of the most common calls we get from Irmo. Roots find the smallest gaps at pipe joints and grow until they cause slow drains, backups, and eventually cracked pipes. We use camera inspections to find the problem and hydro-jetting to clear it.
Aging HVAC in Harbison-area homes. The Harbison area grew rapidly in the 1990s and early 2000s. If your system is original to the home, it’s been fighting Midlands humidity for 25+ years. We see a lot of homes where the AC “works” but energy bills keep climbing — that’s usually a compressor losing efficiency or ductwork with leaks that have developed over decades. A duct inspection alone can sometimes cut cooling costs significantly.
Clay soil and shifting foundations. Irmo’s clay-heavy soil shifts with seasonal moisture changes, putting pressure on pipes under slab foundations and in crawl spaces. The humid subtropical climate also accelerates corrosion inside older copper and galvanized supply lines. If you’re noticing low water pressure or discolored water, corroding pipes are often the cause.
