Does a heat pump cool as well as heat?
Yes. A heat pump moves heat out of your home in summer and brings heat in during winter — one system for year-round comfort.
My heat pump runs a lot. Is something wrong?
Not by itself. Heat pumps naturally run longer, gentler cycles than furnaces, and the air feels cooler even when they're working right. If your home isn't staying comfortable or your bills have jumped, have it checked.
Will a bigger heat pump fix an uncomfortable room?
Usually not. A room that's always uncomfortable is often an airflow or ductwork issue. We'll find the cause before recommending new equipment.
Does frost or "AUX heat" mean my heat pump is broken?
No. Light frost and short defrost cycles are normal in cold weather, and AUX heat kicks in when the system needs a boost. Call us if the outdoor unit stays caked in ice, AUX runs constantly or your house isn't staying warm. Don't chip ice off the unit.
